Low Key Chocolate Cake

I wanted to create something unexpected with these images.

Using my speedlite, I ended up shooting some low key images of this chocolate cake. If you scroll down, you’ll see one taken with natural backlight. It’s magical how light can totally change the mood and story of a subject.

I’m in love with this type of lighting.

Chocolate Pecan Pie (with Salted Caramel!)

For my first Thanksgiving in Canada, I wanted to ‘wow’ the family with a homemade pie.

One of my husband’s favourites is Pecan. I decided to test out this recipe by Food 52, and for a ‘test pie’ it came out pretty damn alright.

So I decided to explore the pie in various compositions and moods. When I am able to really explore a subject, I like to create different themes, moods and stories. This is something I teach in my advanced in-person workshops. Contact me for inquiries about upcoming workshops.
