Minimalism isn't about limiting yourself to one subject, or styling with one prop. It's about creating without excess, and the best part is you get to define what that truly is for you.
Planning is key for the success of a photoshoot.
Shooting a series does require some planning in terms of composition techniques, variety of shots, angles and stories, plus using common elements to tie it all together.
I couldn't photograph a watermelon series without shooting a watermelon granita. The simple goodness of fresh watermelon juice, lime juice + sugar! Heaven.
My favourite drink when I lived in Melbourne, Australia was the watermelon jalapeno margarita from Arbory Eatery. HANDS DOWN. Gosh, I miss it!β β
I decided to shoot super shallow at f/2.2, which I NEVER do. Using my 85mm to capture a soft food portrait. It was the perfect angle and subject to explore something a little shallower than I am used to.
Enjoy!
