As a well-seasoned food photographer, we can get into the habit of always shooting our go-to light. It's safe, we know it. We know it gets results.
Then sometimes, we are blessed with light changing and we see this renewed sense of magic.
Like this somewhat harsh natural light on this Lemon Meringue Pie. But then, I am no stranger to blowing out my highlights. The vast contrast between the lights and darks in this image is what makes it for me.
